Job summary

McRoberts & Hartis, P.C. seeks a mid-level associate attorney with at least three years of experience. The role is fully remote, with Midwest base. Ideal candidates will handle environmental risk in real estate transactions and oversight of environmental consultants.

Equity interest may be offered for the right candidate; salary is commensurate with experience. A JD plus degree in environmental science, geology, or related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of practice as an associate attorney.
• Experience evaluating and advising clients on environmental risks in real estate transactions, financing, and redevelopment including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments.
• Negotiating environmental insurance and environmental aspects of purchase/ sale agreements, leases, and loan documents.
• Overseeing environmental consultants on investigations and remediations.
• Working with regulatory agencies to achieve regulatory closure and protections.
• Direct experience with sophisticated clients.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on environmental risks related to transactions and redevelopment.
• Review Phase I ESAs and related due diligence.
• Negotiate insurance and environmental contract terms.
• Coordinate with consultants on investigations/remediations.
• Interface with regulatory bodies to secure required clearances.
