Job summary

GHD is seeking an Environmental Construction Superintendent to oversee nationwide environmental, heavy civil and remediation projects. The role involves directing onsite crews, managing safety, quality, and schedules, and coordinating with subcontractors to meet contractual requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of supervisor-level experience in environmental remediation, heavy civil, demolition, mining, dredging or general contracting.
• Ability to review project schedules and direct field activities.
• Ability to lead a diverse team of crafts and subcontractors.
• Ability to recognize changes and advise project management on notices and claims.
• Strong understanding of project contracts, specifications and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the site's H&S representative to enforce Health and Safety Plans.
• Review project hazards and participate in Job Hazard Analysis and incident reporting.
• Perform pre-task planning and coordinate field activities for resources.
• Direct crafts and subcontractors to meet project rules, procedures and safety requirements.
• Ensure timecards correctly reflect hours and tasks and are submitted timely.
• Understand contract scope and advise management of potential changes or problems.
• Assist in planning work schedule, workforce levels, material quantities, and subcontractor scheduling.
• Assist with selection and hiring of project craft personnel.
• Train and mentor direct reports and subcontractors.
• Use cost control systems to improve job performance.
• Contribute to the safety culture onsite.
• Take on additional assignments as needed.
