Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking a student intern in Chicago to join a multi-disciplinary team under a licensed engineer. You will assist with design technology systems, construction documents, and site visits as needed, with potential to evolve into a full-time entry-level role for qualified students.

Applicants must be enrolled in a Bachelor or Master’s program in Engineering, possess strong communication skills, and have experience with engineering design tools such as Revit or Navisworks.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in and working toward a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs (i.e. Revit, Navisworks or similar applications) preferred.

Responsibilities

• May design technology systems including telecommunications systems, security systems, nurse call systems, public address systems, and audiovisual systems per standards and applicable codes.
• Participate in the preparation of construction documents and basic specifications of systems for projects.
• Assist in the review and markup of shop drawing submittals.
• May visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress. Site visits frequently require physical walk-through of site.
• Additional responsibilities as requested.
