Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking a student intern to join our multi-disciplinary engineering team in Chicago. You will assist with electrical design, document preparation from concept through detailed design, and review submittals with potential site visits to verify conditions.

The role provides learning opportunities across commercial, education, health, and sports sectors, with potential evolution into a full-time entry-level position for qualified students.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in and working toward a Bachelor or Master's degree in Engineering.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs (i.e. Revit MEP, SKM Power Tools) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Electrical design of lighting, power distribution and communication systems including fire alarm systems.
• Preparation of documents and reports from concept design through advanced technical design documentation.
• Assist in the review and markup of shop drawing submittals.
• May visit job site to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
