Job summary

Thrivent Financial is seeking a Manager of Engineering to lead and evolve our Engineering Productivity ecosystem, including the Internal Developer Platform (IDP). You will own platform health, reliability, and security while driving adoption through self-service capabilities and measurable improvements in developer productivity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of software engineering/platform engineering with a track record of improving engineering effectiveness.
• 3+ years of leadership driving technical strategy, execution, and continuous improvement.
• Experience building and operating an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) at enterprise scale.
• Experience defining platform success metrics including adoption, developer satisfaction, deployment efficiency, lead time reduction, and friction reduction.

Responsibilities

• Own the health, reliability, security, scalability, and long-term sustainability of Thrivent's Engineering Productivity platforms and Internal Developer Platform (IDP).
• Lead self-service engineering capabilities to reduce developer friction and accelerate the software development lifecycle.
• Define and drive the IDP roadmap, ensuring measurable value across engineering teams.
• Partner with engineering teams to refine platform experiences based on feedback and usage patterns.
• Mentor engineers, promote knowledge sharing, and influence platform investments with data-driven recommendations.
