Job summary

GitLab is seeking an Engineering Manager, Cell Infrastructure, to lead multi-cloud cell placement and orchestration systems across clouds. You will grow the engineering team responsible for architecture, delivery, and production operations, while driving reliability and cost visibility in a fast-paced, global remote environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems in production using cell-based architecture.
• Proven ownership of reliability, incident response, and postmortem processes.
• Ability to hire, coach, and develop engineers, including senior ICs and managers.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-cloud cell placement and orchestration system design and delivery.
• Build and scale the cell infrastructure engineering team.
• Drive cost visibility and optimization with finance and platform teams.
• Own the reliability model for cell infrastructure including on-call and postmortems.
• Collaborate with Git infrastructure, Artifact Registry, Duo Agent Platform, and CI/CD teams.
• Define cross-cloud routing, data residency, and portability architectures.
