Job summary

Canonical is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a globally remote team focused on ML/Analytics, Open Source contributions, and modern MLOps practices. You will review code, guide architecture, and ensure the team remains productive and unblocked while fostering growth and culture.

You will collaborate with product managers and architects to define an engineering roadmap, mentor engineers, and participate in community engagement.

Qualifications

• Proven software delivery experience.
• Professional Python development experience; open source preferred.
• Strong understanding of the ML space and its challenges.
• Experience designing and implementing MLOps solutions.
• Exceptional academic track record through high school and university.
• Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.

Responsibilities

• Manage a distributed team of engineers and its MLOps/Analytics portfolio.
• Organize and lead the team’s processes to achieve objectives.
• Conduct one-on-one meetings with team members.
• Identify and measure team health indicators.
• Interact with a vibrant community and attend conferences.
• Review code produced by other engineers.
• Mentor and grow direct reports to achieve professional goals.
• Travel 2–4 weeks per year for internal/external events.
