Job summary

Canonical is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead teams focused on Big Data and MySQL databases. You will guide scalable data solutions on Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure, while contributing code when needed and promoting modern operational practices.

You will hire and coach engineers, set expectations with stakeholders, and drive a culture of quality and collaboration. This remote role offers global reach with periodic travel for internal events.

Qualifications

• Software engineering background, with Python and Golang preferred.
• Production-scale experience, Big Data or MySQL preferred.
• Proven ability to build high-quality open-source software.
• Proven to drive engineering practices around performance and quality.
• Passionate about software development and technology.
• Experience growing and developing people.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team building scalable data solutions for Kubernetes and cloud machines.
• Hire, coach, mentor, provide feedback, and lead by example.
• Contribute code when needed to demonstrate hands-on leadership.
• Set and manage expectations with other teams, senior management and stakeholders.
• Develop and evangelize engineering and organizational practices.
• Maintain a culture of quality and engineering excellence.
