Job summary

Chronosphere, a Palo Alto Networks company, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the distributed logging platform team and nurture high-performing engineers across the stack.

You will partner with product and design to shape the roadmap, balance delivery with quality, and contribute hands-on when needed to navigate a complex infrastructure. A focus on reliability and scalable execution will drive success across the organization.

Qualifications

• Experience partnering with product and design.
• Ability to take on ambiguity and evolve it into clear direction and priorities for the team by driving alignment and accountability.
• Ability to establish and change processes to empower the team to achieve their goals.
• Experience iterating with product and design and empowering engineers to go from high level requirements to execution plan, and have a track record of successful delivery on the team.
• Familiarity with enterprise software and software as a service.
• Experience coaching and developing software engineers of varied backgrounds and levels.
• Empathy and understanding of how to support engineers to do their best work.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product and design to vet the direction for the logging product, drive alignment and prioritization on the team.
• Manage projects to both the product and infrastructure roadmaps, establish delivery sequence, and drive day‑to‑day execution focused on priorities.
• Balance work across our individual contributors and help them do their best work by creating a healthy team environment.
• Support and hire up a team of 10+ engineers through all stages of their career via feedback, coaching, performance management.
• Eliminate barriers to execution and help drive efficiency and high velocity for the team.
• Own the reliability of your product area in production. Our engineering teams are responsible for the uptime of their systems, and you will ensure that your team has the focus, tools, and process needed to reliably ship and manage these systems.
• Collaborate with other engineering leaders on wider organizational initiatives.
