Job summary

Airbnb, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to shape the AirCover Insurance Platform, responsible for policies, coverage and regional rules, with a focus on scalable, available and auditable systems.

You will mentor engineers, lead cross-team initiatives, collaborate with product, data science and legal, and apply new technology including LLMs to improve automation for hosts and guests.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development in a fast-paced tech environment.
• Expertise in backend systems in large-scale, service-oriented architectures.
• Experience designing multi-region or multi-tenant platforms with configurable, rules-driven behavior.
• Experience with A/B testing and experimentation systems.
• Proficiency designing and operating high-performance systems with monitoring and SQL.
• Hands-on technical leadership across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Design the future-state architecture for AirCover across regions and products.
• Lead the design of an experimentation framework for offers, pricing and placement.
• Mentor engineers and drive collaboration across multiple teams.
• Partner with Product, Data Science, Data Engineering, Legal and platform teams to shape requirements.
• Raise the bar for technical quality from design to production operations.
• Apply emerging technology, including LLMs, to improve automation and the experience for Hosts and guests.
