Job summary

Mapbox is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Incidents organization. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams building high-scale backend services, data pipelines, and AI Agentic workflows to detect, validate, and deliver live road updates.

You will drive day-to-day work, mentor engineers, and align the team’s output with company priorities, serving thousands of customers who rely on Mapbox to handle billions of requests in real time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent practical hands-on engineering experience.
• 5+ years of people management experience leading remote engineering teams.
• Deep knowledge of building scalable web services and data pipelines in AWS.
• Strong culture of quality, metrics, triage, and continuous improvement with robust code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Deliver complex, high-impact projects while providing technical expertise and mentorship to your team.
• Operate your team’s day-to-day and be hands-on in project management and sprint planning.
• Manage on-call and related operational responsibilities to ensure reliability.
• Empathize with internal and external customers delivering features that address their needs.
• Lead hiring, retention, and development to continually build team capabilities.
• Align team goals with company priorities and drive execution of long-term strategy.
