Job summary

Environmental Defense Fund, Inc. seeks an Analyst, Energy Transition, Clean Electricity to support the Clean Electricity team’s work accelerating investment in clean energy, including carbon markets that reduce pollution and strengthen communities.

The role focuses on California’s cap-and-invest program, linking to emerging markets, and advancing research, advocacy, and communications across EDF partners and policymakers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant experience and an Associate’s degree required.
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, public policy, economics, or a related field may substitute for up to 2 years of related experience.
• Strong research, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize technical information for policy audiences.

Responsibilities

• Support development and refinement of EDF's advocacy strategy around priority energy transition policies in key states, including carbon markets and regulatory efforts.
• Represent EDF in external forums with coalition partners and media; support rapid-response inquiries.
• Conduct in-house research and analysis of proposed regulations and legislation.
• Analyze policies across emissions, economic, health, and equity implications.
• Write white papers, policy memos, and public communications including comments and blog posts.
