Job summary

OpenAI is hiring an Employer Brand Manager to define and scale the narrative and operating system that shapes how priority talent understands OpenAI. This senior IC will anchor our brand in OpenAI’s frontier research identity and translate an evidence-backed why OpenAI / why now narrative into campaigns, stories, and recruiter enablement.

The role will shape the external brand to reflect our culture and ethos, working across research, engineering, product, and other mission-critical functions,

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in employer branding or related field.
• Experience across high-growth startups and larger organizations.
• Ability to translate strategy into durable systems, content, and operating practices.
• Exceptional writing and editing to translate technical work into credible narratives.

Responsibilities

• Lead OpenAI’s employer brand strategy for the full range of talent needs, anchored in our frontier research identity.
• Build a distinctive why OpenAI / why now narrative translating culture, ambition, and impact into credible stories.
• Use insights to sharpen audience priorities, positioning, content, and candidate experience.
• Create and lead a scalable content and enablement system—from careers site to job descriptions, outreach, events, and recruiter guidance.
• Ensure the external brand promise aligns with the candidate journey from first impression to onboarding.
• Measure brand perception, audience engagement, candidate understanding, and recruiting impact.
• Build an AI-native operating model across Recruiting, Communications, Marketing, Brand, Recruiting Operations, Legal, and partners.
