Job summary

LaSalle Network is seeking an Emergency Medicine & Trauma Coder for a fully remote, contract-to-hire role. The candidate will translate complex trauma and emergency department notes into CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for physician billing.

Qualifications include active CPC/CCS/CCS-P certification and 1–3+ years of trauma/emergency medicine coding, plus familiarity with E/M and critical care coding. Remote work supports flexible scheduling and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Active coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA.
• 1-3+ years of trauma/emergency medicine coding experience.
• Experience coding both procedures and E/M services.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, terminology, and trauma guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Review operative reports and clinical notes to identify diagnoses and procedures for coding.
• Assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes per guidelines, including E/M and critical care when applicable.
• Code physician services for professional fee billing; not facility-based coding.
• Apply trauma and surgical coding guidelines to ensure accuracy.
• Identify documentation gaps and escalate questions when clarification is needed.
