Job summary

Fuse Energy is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in the US to design, build, and scale the connected hardware powering our distributed energy devices. You will work across firmware, hardware and backend teams to deliver production-ready, secure and scalable systems.

The role focuses on open software for connectivity, secure provisioning and robust telemetry, from prototype to deployment, in a hands-on remote environment with collaboration across multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years building connected embedded products or related experience.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems with RTOS experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain connectivity across Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Thread, Zigbee and BLE.
• Build secure device messaging using MQTT/CoAP/HTTP/WebSockets; support time sync (NTP/PTP).
• Contribute to secure boot, provisioning, and hardware-backed device identity.
• Develop firmware update pipelines, OTA updates and security best practices.
• Integrate devices with cloud IoT platforms and improve telemetry and observability.
• Support testing, validation for safety/EMC/radio and certification artefacts.
• Collaborate with firmware, hardware, power electronics, mechanical and software teams.
