Job summary

Fuse Energy in the US is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, build, and scale the connected hardware powering the Energy Network. This hands-on role spans embedded systems, networking, device security, and fleet connectivity from prototype through deployment.

You’ll collaborate with firmware, hardware, and backend teams to deliver production-ready systems, secure provisioning, and robust telemetry for a growing fleet of distributed energy devices.

Responsibilities

• Connectivity & Networking: Develop and maintain connectivity across Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Thread, Zigbee, and BLE; Build and optimise secure, reliable device messaging using protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, HTTP, or WebSockets; Support time synchronization with NTP/PTP.
• Device Security & OTA Management: Contribute to secure boot flows, key/certificate provisioning, hardware-backed device identity; Build and maintain signed firmware update pipelines with OTA updates and rollback; Support lifecycle security and vulnerability management.
• Edge & Cloud Integration: Integrate devices with cloud IoT platforms and backend services; Define telemetry, health monitoring, and observability; Ensure reliable field operation and fleet troubleshooting.
• Compliance & Testing: Support safety, EMC, radio, and related product testing; Prepare test plans and validation documentation; Collaborate with manufacturing and cross-functional teams.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with firmware, hardware, power electronics, mechanical, and software teams; contribute to design reviews and interface specifications; share best practices across connectivity and embedded security.
