Job summary

Collabora is seeking an experienced Embedded Linux Software Developer with Open-Source exposure to join our remote team. You will provide consulting to clients in Embedded Linux areas, including bootloaders, kernel, and distros, via software development, integration, debug and testing.

You will contribute to upstream projects, work with international clients, and help shape open source strategies while collaborating with delivery teams and representing Collabora at conferences and events.

Qualifications

• Broad Linux experience including uBoot, Linux kernel, and BSP
• Knowledge of open source development methodologies and communities
• Knowledge of ARM-based embedded systems
• Experience with System image creation tooling (Debos, WIC) and OTA technologies
• Experience with Debian system creation is a plus
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in Linux environments
• Experience with software development for embedded Linux systems
• Experience with modern CI tools (GitHub, GitLab)
• Good English language skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to work in a fully distributed online environment

• Upstream & Community Participation: Contribute to open source projects to demonstrate technical leadership
• Real-World Impact: Analyze client problems and design solutions using open source tech
• Customer Collaboration: Define and scope client projects with the delivery team
• Be a Technical Advisor: Discuss Linux core technologies with clients and at conferences
• Deep Technical Work: Understand client needs and balance times, tech, and resources
