Job summary

Lake County Forest Preserves seeks a Safety Manager to lead the District’s safety program, aligning with Illinois OSHA requirements and district policies. The role develops, implements, and audits safety programs, conducts risk assessments, and improves safety culture across the district.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree related to safety, five years’ risk-management experience, and supervisory responsibilities. Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred, with a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
• Five years’ experience in risk management program administration in non-manufacturing/parks settings.
• Two years’ supervisory experience.
• Specialized training in safety programs (e.g., CSP or similar).
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred; valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements the District’s Safety Program and policies.
• Conducts safety-focused task analyses district-wide.
• Maintains and audits safety inspection programs for facilities and equipment.
• Oversees Emergency Response Plan and Business Resumption Plan.
• Administers Respirator and Hearing Conservation programs.
• Supervises, evaluates, trains, and recruits assigned staff.
• Travel to various locations as needed; lifting up to 50 pounds.
