Job summary

NV5 is seeking a full-time Principal Archaeologist/Investigator for Cultural Resources Management work in New Mexico. The role reports to NV5's Cultural Resource Program in Alpharetta, GA, with location flexibility and potential remote work based on experience.

NM experience is required and candidate must be listed on or eligible for listing as a Principal Investigator on the NM SHPO Directory of Qualified Supervisory Personnel.

Qualifications

• Professional archaeological experience in New Mexico required.
• Master's degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field.
• Current standing or eligibility for Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) or qualified archaeologist under 36 CFR Part 61.
• Listed on or eligible for listing as a Principal Investigator on the New Mexico SHPO Directory of Qualified Supervisory Personnel.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Be eligible for and able to respond to federal and state permitting requirements.
• Experience as an archaeological field director or project manager a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Section 106 and/or due diligence assessments for infrastructure and energy projects, including fieldwork/survey and evaluation.
• Lead or assist with consultation and project mitigation activities.
• Perform artifact analysis and curation.
• Prepare avoidance/minimization measures for preservation of resources.
• Manage project performance and coordinate with clients and agencies.
• Communicate effectively with team and stakeholders.
• Assist in business development of NV5's archaeological practice in the SW and SE US.
