Job summary

NV5 is seeking a full-time Principal Archaeologist/Investigator for Cultural Resources Management work in New Mexico. The successful candidate must be listed on or eligible for listing as a Principal Investigator on the NM SHPO Directory of Qualified Supervisory Personnel.

The role will involve leading Section 106 studies, field surveys, artifact analysis, and data recovery for diverse clients. You will manage multiple projects, coordinate with agencies and the public, and contribute to NV5’s

Qualifications

• Professional archaeological experience in New Mexico required.
• Master’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field.
• RPA certification or eligibility; eligible to be listed as Principal Investigator on NM SHPO Directory.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Section 106 and/or due diligence assessments for infrastructure and energy projects, including fieldwork, resource identification and evaluation, and effects assessment.
• Lead or assist with consultation and mitigation tasks, and develop data recovery plans as needed.
• Conduct artifact analysis and curation efforts.
• Prepare avoidance/minimization measures for preservation of National Register resources.
• Manage project performance and coordinate with clients, agencies, and the public.
• Maintain communication with project teams and contribute to business development.
• Assist in marketing NV5’s archaeological practice in the southwestern and southeastern United States.
