Job summary

The Kentucky Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) seeks a Family Support Specialist I to help determine eligibility for public assistance programs and support vulnerable populations. This is a full-time executive branch position requiring maturity and self-discipline.

Located at 1000 E Lexington Avenue, Suite 6 in Danville, KY, telecommuting may be authorized. The agency will verify background via fingerprint check; equality of opportunity is guaranteed by the Commonwealth.

Qualifications

• Experience working with the public is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Good time management and organizational skills are required.
• Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Interviews clients via phone or in person for Basic Public Assistance programs.
• Gathers, completes and reviews required documentation.
• Participates in formal and on the job training and observing other staff.
• Track processing deadlines for timely case activity and case hearings.
• Learns to identify resources and appropriate referrals.
• Learns to operate computer terminals and personal computers, prepares and maintains case records.
• Enter case information into the computer.
