Job summary

City of Loveland in Colorado seeks a Building Energy Codes Specialist to coordinate the development, adoption, and implementation of energy codes and to support climate initiatives with data-driven insights.

The role manages code cycles, training, and stakeholder engagement while contributing to building performance and climate objectives. A 4-year degree and 5 years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Requires a 4-year degree in a related field (Mechanical Eng, Construction Management, Environmental Science or similar).
  • Minimum five years of related experience in building energy codes or electric utility sector.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Municipal utility experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate development, adoption, and implementation of building energy codes and amendments.
  • Manage long-term planning and update cycles for building energy codes and evaluate performance and compliance outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, regional partners, the County, and State agencies for consistency across jurisdictions.
  • Provide data-driven interpretation of building performance, compliance, and energy-use data to inform recommendations.
  • Deliver training for inspectors, plans examiners, engineers, and staff on energy code requirements and updates.
  • Maintain educational materials, guidance documents, and web resources for contractors and property owners.
  • Provide staff-level interpretation of energy and building performance code requirements to stakeholders.
  • Track metrics, identify trends, and propose process improvements.
