Job summary

Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services in Virginia seeks two Community Resource Consultants to serve as subject matter experts on home and community-based services. The role develops and delivers technical programmatic assistance, mentoring, and organizational development for Support Coordinators and DD Medicaid Waiver providers statewide.

The position builds DD system capacity at individual, provider, and system levels, supports DBHDS performance measures, and may involve

Qualifications

• Knowledge and skills in human services area.
• Understanding of best practices in developmental disabilities.
• Experience in the delivery of human service programs including program development, evaluation, policy/regulation development and coordination across boundaries.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Ability to work well independently and on a team, and to develop and sustain relationships.

Responsibilities

• Providing technical assistance and training to Support Coordinators and DD Waiver providers.
• Assisting in the development of guidance materials to support the quality and availability of services.
• Representing the prevailing view of DBHDS in the assigned area.
• Holding focus groups with stakeholders to discuss integrated, employment, day, and residential options.
• Responding to community concerns to provide information to individuals, families, providers, CSBs, and other professionals as needed.
• Ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations covering service administration.
• Keeping knowledge of CMS, DMAS and related regulatory requirements current and applied.
• Providing summaries of work completed including Training Evaluations and Activity Reports.
