Job summary
Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer/Technician to advance automation and control solutions for generator paralleling systems.
This role involves designing, programming, testing, and commissioning controls, both independently and with cross-functional teams, to retrofit and implement new projects. You will convert legacy PLC programs, develop PLC/HMI applications, and collaborate with CAD to produce wiring drawings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience with automation and controls is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with Dealer and Factory teams.
- Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of low- and medium-voltage generator control systems.
- Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
- Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
- Collaborate with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
- Perform technical risk assessment and support field performance of projects.
- Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses promptly.
- Train technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance and operation.
