Job summary

Caterpillar's Electric Power Division is seeking an engineer to design, program, and commission generator paralleling control systems. You will work independently and with teams to deliver automation solutions from concept through commissioning, including retrofit projects.

You’ll convert legacy PLC programs, develop PLC/HMI applications, and collaborate with CAD designers to produce wiring drawings while supporting field performance and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
• 2 years of related experience with degree or 4 years without a degree.
• Experience with automation and controls including PLC-based systems, HMIs, and distributed control systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and support proposals with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Design, program, test, and commission low- and medium-voltage generator paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs and validate performance; develop PLC/HMI applications.
• Produce wiring/assembly drawings with CAD and provide technical field support.
