Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Remote-based Electrical Engineering professional to join the Electric Power Division. You will deliver automation and control solutions for power systems, executing retrofit and new projects from concept to commissioning.

Responsibilities include design, programming, testing, and commissioning of generator paralleling control systems, PLC/HMI development, and cross-functional collaboration with CAD, dealers, and factories.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in electrical engineering.
Experience with automation and controls including PLC-based systems, HMIs and DCS.
Knowledge of power systems, switchgear, ATS and generator systems.
Remote-based with 35–50% travel requirement.
Salaried exempt position with overtime eligibility.

Responsibilities

Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope and support proposals with Dealer and Factory teams.
Design, program, test and commission LV/MV generator paralleling control systems.
Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
Collaborate with CAD to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
Perform technical risk assessments and support field performance.
Submit project documentation, reports and expenses in a timely manner.
Train and support technicians, customers and internal teams on maintenance and operation.
