Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a remote-based Electrical Engineering professional in the United States to join the Electric Power Division. You will deliver automation and control solutions for generator systems, collaborating with dealers and factories from concept through commissioning.

The role requires experience with PLC/HMI, control systems, and reading schematics; travel 35–50% is expected. Salary ranges with comprehensive benefits are offered for a salaried exempt position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology preferred.
• Equivalent relevant experience considered.
• Willingness to travel 35–50%.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope, and support proposal development.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of generator control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications.
• Partner with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Perform technical risk assessment and support field performance.
• Submit project documents and expenses in a timely manner.
• Train and support technicians and customers.
