Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs in the United States is seeking a mid-level Electrical Engineer to support utility distribution power system studies for oil & gas projects across North America. You will work on power distribution design, MV/LV systems, and coordination with clients, utilities, and vendors.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology.
2–6 years of relevant electrical/utility engineering experience.
FE/EIT preferred; progress toward PE licensure preferred.
Experience with power system studies using ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, PowerFactory, Milsoft.
Exposure to PSS/E and transmission planning tools preferred.
Knowledge of medium-/low-voltage power systems including distribution and substation work.
Utility distribution experience and coordination with utilities and vendors.
Experience with protective relaying and relay coordination is a plus.
Strong client interaction skills and ability to work with project stakeholders.
Willingness to travel up to 25% for field work and meetings.
Authorized to work in the United States full-time.

Responsibilities

Support industrial, utility, and oil & gas projects across North America focusing on power system studies.
Perform design activities for medium-/low-voltage power distribution systems.
Develop models and perform power system studies using ETAP, SKM, PSS/E, PSCAD, and similar tools.
Produce technical reports and recommendations based on study results.
Support substation, relay, and protection-related engineering activities.
Create one-line/three-line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.
Coordinate with clients, utilities, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to advance project execution.
Attend client meetings, document action items, and support engineering decisions.
Contribute from preliminary design through issued-for-construction deliverables under senior oversight.
Provide field, startup, and commissioning support as needed.
Check the work of designers and drafters for quality and accuracy.
Adhere to NEC, NESC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, and utility standards.
