Job summary

Caterpillar Electric Power Division is hiring a qualified engineer to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation solutions for complex power systems, coordinating with dealers and factories, and supporting retrofit and new projects from concept through commissioning.

The role requires a BSEE or BSEET (or equivalent) and experience in PLC/HMI applications, with 35–50% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Experience with automation and controls, PLC-based systems, HMIs, and DCS is expected.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope, and support proposal development with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV/MV generator paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Partner with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Perform technical risk assessment and support field performance of projects.
• Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses timely.
• Train and support technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance and system operation.
