Job summary

TechServ is seeking experienced Engineering Technicians/ Designers to join our Electrical Distribution team. You will design electric utility distribution systems and work with Maximo, DDS, and SPIDAcalc to support project documentation and analysis.

You will develop designs for new construction, upgrades, and redevelopment, collaborating with Engineers, Project Coordinators, and field personnel across project phases while traveling to regional job sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience designing electrical distribution systems required.
• Hands-on experience with Maximo, DDS, and SPIDAcalc preferred.
• Knowledge of overhead and/or underground distribution systems.
• Ability to develop accurate, constructible designs with limited supervision.
• Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical distribution designs per client standards and requirements.
• Use Maximo, DDS, and SPIDAcalc to support design, documentation, pole loading, and workflow.
• Prepare designs for new construction, upgrades, relocations, rebuilds.
• Review field data and infrastructure to produce accurate designs.
• Analyze reports and project requirements to plan distribution projects.
• Perform pole loading calculations with SPIDAcalc.
• Create and maintain design drawings, redlines, and markups.
• Apply utility standards, codes, and construction requirements.
• Select equipment and materials per project scope.
• Review design packages for accuracy and constructability.
• Keep projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
• Maintain project information in Maximo and other systems.
• Coordinate with PMs, Engineers, field personnel, and Designers.
• Complete projects within budgeted hours and deadlines.
• Participate in QA/QC reviews as needed.
• Travel to regional job sites as required.
