Job summary

TechServ Engineering seeks an Experienced Engineering Technician/Designer for Electrical Distribution. You will design distribution systems, run pole-load analyses with SPIDAcalc, and prepare construction documents with collaboration across engineers and project teams.

You will travel roughly 20% to regional sites, using Maximo, DDS, and SPIDAcalc daily, ensuring designs meet client standards and schedules.

Qualifications

• Experience designing electrical distribution systems.
• Hands-on with Maximo, DDS, and SPIDAcalc.
• Knowledge of overhead and/or underground distribution systems.
• Ability to interpret utility standards, drawings, and specs.
• Pole loading analysis experience with SPIDAcalc.
• Constructible designs with limited supervision.
• Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Collaborative team player with strong communication.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical distribution designs per client standards.
• Support design with Maximo, DDS, and SPIDAcalc.
• Prepare designs for new construction and upgrades.
• Review field data and existing infrastructure.
• Analyze reports to plan distribution projects.
• Create and maintain design drawings, redlines, and markups.
• Interpret and apply utility standards and codes.
• Coordinate with PMs, engineers, field personnel, and Designers.
• Complete projects within budgeted hours and deadlines.
• Travel to regional job sites up to 20% for engagements.
