Job summary

TheGrio is seeking an Editorial Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of thegrio.com, guiding copy, publishing rhythm, and TheGrio’s distinctive voice. You’ll line-edit, plan coverage, and coordinate with editors, reporters, and freelancers.

You’ll drive story development, calendar planning, and analytics, while leveraging AI tools responsibly. This is a remote, U.S.-based role with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in digital editorial with 1–2 years assigning/editing others
• Fluency in Black culture and TheGrio’s audience
• Experience with WordPress and analytics tools

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily publishing operation for thegrio.com
• Line-edit and structurally edit across formats and ensure voice consistency
• Develop and greenlight pitches; manage freelance work
• Own the editorial calendar end to end and coordinate cross-team initiatives
