Job summary

Hay House, a leading publisher of personal development titles, is seeking an Editorial Intern to support the fiction list and learn editorial and acquisitions processes. You will work with editors to evaluate submissions, identify promising manuscripts, and help prepare reader reports.

This part-time, remote internship is available to candidates in eligible U.S. states, roughly two days per week at $20 per hour, with opportunities to gain hands-on experience in submitting materials, research,

Qualifications

• Strong interest in commercial genre fiction and excellent written communication.
• Ability to develop thoughtful opinions about manuscripts and communicate feedback clearly and respectfully.
• Excellent reading comprehension and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Read and evaluate fiction submissions under the guidance of a senior editor.
• Prepare reader reports summarizing manuscript premise, strengths, areas for development, and potential fit with the Hay House fiction list.
• Research comparable titles, authors, and relevant fiction trends.
• Help maintain submission records and editorial files.
• Assist with preparing materials for editorial meetings.
• Participate in discussions about fiction submissions and the publishing process.
• Support the editorial team with administrative and project-based tasks as needed.
