Job summary

Hay House, Inc. is seeking an Editorial Intern to support our growing fiction list while gaining hands-on exposure to editorial and acquisitions. Working with our editorial team, you’ll learn how editors evaluate submissions and consider manuscripts for the Hay House fiction list.

This part-time, remote internship runs about two days per week at $20.00 per hour. You’ll read submissions, prepare reader reports, research trends, maintain records, and assist with meetings while you grow in a

Qualifications

• Strong interest in commercial genre fiction including romantasy and romance.
• Excellent reading comprehension and written communication.
• Ability to develop thoughtful opinions about manuscripts and communicate feedback clearly.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage deadlines and follow through on assignments.
• Curiosity and eagerness to learn about the publishing industry.

Responsibilities

• Read and evaluate fiction submissions under the guidance of a senior editor.
• Prepare concise reader reports summarizing a manuscript’s premise, strengths, areas for development, and potential fit with the Hay House fiction list.
• Research comparable titles, authors, and relevant fiction trends.
• Help maintain submission records and editorial files.
• Assist with preparing materials for editorial meetings.
• Participate in discussions about fiction submissions and the publishing process.
• Support the editorial team with administrative and project-based tasks as needed.

Education

Currently enrolled in English Literature / Creative Writing / Publishing or related field
