Job summary

Queue builds robots to fill prescriptions and is expanding the Edge squad to write software that runs on our machine and communicates with its hardware. This mid-level role focuses on hardware links, fill sequencing and contracts with microcontrollers and vision systems, ensuring fail-safe behavior and robust testing.

You will work in Rust, with the opportunity to touch edge software daily and collaborate across firmware, vision, and software teams. Remote work with Bay Area travel is supported.

Qualifications

• Ownership — produced production C, C++ or Rust on Linux from design to release and ownership of shipped code.
• Hardware integration over buses — CAN, RS-485 and other serial links, USB, with debugging on the wire.
• Real-time orchestration and state machines — sequencing subsystems with safe failure paths.
• MCU boundary literacy — understanding MCU/workflow interfaces and versioned host-device protocols.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware links between edge software and controllers/boards, including framing, timing and error handling.
• Develop fill sequencing state machines from entry to finish or safe stop.
• Define and maintain messages between edge software, microcontrollers and vision service.
• Design fail-closed behavior with tests validating failure paths.
