Job summary

Qualifications

• Two years of outpatient coding experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Competency in outpatient coding guidelines and APC assignment.
• Proficient with EMR, 3M encoder, and coding resources.
• Must have AHIMA or AAPC credential or be certified within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnostic and CPT procedural codes for ED encounters, including appropriate modifiers.
• Review and validate ED charges to ensure alignment with CPT codes and billing accuracy.
• Abstract pertinent clinical information from outpatient records into designated systems; manage work queues and reports.
• Resolve coding edits pre- and post-submission to ensure APC compliance and regulatory alignment.
• Maintain proficiency in EMR, 3M encoder, and coding resources to meet quality and productivity standards.
