Job summary

Intact Insurance Specialty Solutions is seeking an Underwriting Consultant for Excess & Surplus to work remotely across the United States. You will partner with wholesale brokers to profitably grow E&S Casualty and Supported Excess business, focusing on high-hazard or complex accounts and applying sound underwriting judgment.

The role requires 7–10 years of underwriting experience in specialty lines and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. AICPCU/RPLU is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 7-10 years of progressively more complex, specialty lines underwriting experience.
• Professional insurance designation is preferred (AICPCU, RPLU).

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop opportunities for profitable new and renewal Primary Casualty and Supported Excess business.
• Manage a portfolio of small to mid-size accounts while meeting financial objectives.
• Demonstrate understanding of exposures, coverages, and regulatory nuances of the E&S market.
• Partner with wholesale brokers to communicate appetite and generate quality submissions.
• Stay current on market conditions and industry trends.
• Mentor junior underwriters and ensure high-quality underwriting.
