Job summary

Champlain Insurance Group is seeking an Account Executive (Underwriter) to join our team. You will work with brokers to select, price and determine terms for General Liability and Excess products in the Excess & Surplus market, while building a profitable book of business.

The role emphasizes risk review, data-driven decisions, and strong cross-functional collaboration to support growth. This is a full-time remote position with benefits for compensation and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years experience in the E&S marketspace.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Be proficient in math.
• Have excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel and other computer software & systems.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Ability to manage, organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Be able to work outside area of responsibility to support the growth of the business.
• Education: Bachelor’s (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze insurance risks, loss history and inspections reports.
• Evaluate information to identify exposures and solicit additional information to base decision to accept or decline according to company policies.
• Classify risk for policy rating.
• Document the underwriting decision-making strategy.
• Maintain and develop relationships with brokers to achieve growth and profit objectives.
• Collaborate with marketing and claims and other cross-functional teams.
• Develop, grow, and maintain a profitable book of business.
• Manage a pipeline of new/renewal business accounts.
• Other tasks related to evaluation, binding, issuance, and modification of the insurance products offered.
