Job summary

Fidus Systems seeks a DSP Designer to develop and validate high-performance signal processing algorithms for complex hardware platforms. You will work across MATLAB/Simulink and Python environments, bridging algorithm design and FPGA/HDL implementation with cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes quantization analysis, bit-width trade-offs, and documenting decisions for client delivery, with exposure to broad domains including communications and radar/sensing.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field.
• Strong foundation in signals and systems.
• Experience with estimation/detection theory or adaptive filtering.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and/or Python for algorithm design.
• Experience with fixed-point conversion and quantization analysis.
• Ability to collaborate across algorithm-to-hardware boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Develop and simulate DSP algorithms in MATLAB/Simulink and/or Python from concept to fixed-point validation.
• Perform quantization/bit-width analysis for HDL implementation.
• Collaborate with FPGA/HDL and hardware teams to translate algorithms into hardware architectures.
• Support HDL verification through golden-model test vectors and co-simulation.
• Support lab bring-up, characterization, and tuning of DSP-based hardware.
• Adapt DSP toolkits to new client domains across multiple engagements.
• Document design decisions, trade-offs, and validation results.
