Job summary

Fidus is a global high-tech design firm seeking a DSP Designer to develop and deliver complex signal processing algorithms from concept through hardware bring-up. You will work across MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and HDL/FPGA environments, collaborating with hardware teams to translate DSP concepts into efficient hardware architectures.

This role supports cross-domain projects in communications, aerospace, automotive, medical devices, and more.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• Proficient with MATLAB/Simulink and Python for algorithm development.
• Experience with fixed-point conversion and bit-width analysis.
• Experience collaborating with HDL/FPGA teams across the algorithm-to-hardware boundary.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain trade-offs to non-DSP stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and simulate DSP algorithms (equalization, filtering, estimation, detection) in MATLAB/Simulink and/or Python from concept to fixed-point validation.
• Perform quantization/bit-width analysis and produce bit-true fixed-point models for HDL implementation.
• Collaborate with FPGA/HDL and hardware teams to translate algorithms into feasible hardware architectures (pipelining, MAC/resource budgeting, timing closure).
• Support HDL verification with golden-model test vectors and co-simulation.
• Assist lab bring-up and characterization of DSP-based hardware against real-world channels and sensors.
• Adapt DSP toolkits to new client domains and standards across engagements.
• Document algorithm design decisions, trade-offs, and validation results.
