Secondwave seeks an experienced inpatient DRG Validation Auditor to partner with a Medical Director in reviewing inpatient records for accurate DRG assignment. The role involves coding validation, audits, and education on best practices.

The candidate should have AHIMA/AAPC credentials, 3+ years inpatient coding, and strong MS-DRG/APR-DRG knowledge, with remote or on-site options in the United States.

Qualifications

• Inpatient hospital coding experience required.
• Minimum 3 years in inpatient coding; 2+ years in DRG validation.
• AHIMA or AAPC credentialing (RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC/CIC).
• Strong knowledge of MS-DRG and APR-DRG reimbursement.
• Ability to interpret complex documentation and apply compliant coding updates.
• HIPAA compliance and confidentiality required.
• Remote or on-site work flexibility.
• Coding audits familiarity and workflow improvement awareness.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed pre-bill reviews with physicians to confirm accurate diagnosis and procedure coding.
• Track coding changes and capture audit data using client systems.
• Investigate and resolve coding compliance issues and client denials.
• Maintain high accuracy and productivity while following coding recommendations.
• Communicate with physicians and CDI teams regarding documentation and compliance.
• Deliver education and training sessions on coding best practices and regulatory updates.
• Stay current with coding changes and regulatory updates.
• Ensure confidentiality of patient records and HIPAA compliance.
