Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an Electrical/Firmware Engineer to design and implement firmware for embedded systems powering DoD IoT devices. You will work with hardware, cloud software teams, and partners to ensure reliable, secure operation across sensors and edge devices.

The role is primarily remote with occasional travel to HQ Tysons, VA and CONUS locations. A strong background in RTOS, embedded Linux, and low-power firmware is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of firmware/electrical design experience for embedded systems (IoT, RF, or mission-critical).
• Proficient in C/C++ for embedded, RTOS development, and device drivers.
• Experience with embedded Linux and TCP/IP networking.
• Familiar with power optimization for battery-powered devices.
• Security-aware firmware development and testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and optimize firmware for embedded systems.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to tailor firmware for wireless designs.
• Implement firmware control for RF modules, sensors, and comm interfaces (Bluetooth, LoRa, LTE).
• Debug, test, and refine firmware in rugged/missions environments.
• Ensure secure firmware and oversee version control across projects.
