Job summary

LMI Government Consulting seeks an Electrical/Firmware Engineer to join our hardware team developing firmware for embedded DoD devices. You will design, implement, and test firmware across asset tags, sensors, and edge devices, coordinating with hardware, cloud software, and partners to ensure mission-readiness.

This role is primarily remote with occasional travel to Tysons, VA and CONUS locations. Requires U.S. citizenship and eligibility for government security clearance.

Qualifications

• 5 years of firmware/electrical design for embedded systems, preferably IoT or mission-critical.
• Experience with RTOS, embedded Linux, and device drivers.
• Low-power battery-based firmware development experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and optimize firmware for embedded systems.
• Collaborate with hardware teams on wireless embedded designs.
• Implement firmware for RF modules, sensors, and comms interfaces (Bluetooth, LoRa, LTE).
• Debug, test, and refine firmware in rugged environments.
• Contribute to field testing and firmware updates for defense-grade standards.
• Ensure integration with software, DevSecOps, and hardware across projects.
• Maintain firmware revision control and versioning.
• Ensure compliance with MIL-STD, FIPS, or FCC security standards.
