Job summary

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Engineer for a REMOTE WORK role to support electric utility projects in the Greater Kansas City area. The candidate can work remotely but must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to assist local projects.

Key duties include preparing distribution construction packages for overhead/underground projects, assisting with 2.4kV–34kV design, and creating as-built drawings. Travel and fieldwork may be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited engineering degree; electrical preferred.
Experience or basic knowledge of electric utility distribution systems and standards.
Understanding of engineering principles and attention to detail.
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, GIS, and distribution design tools.
Familiarity with design/drafting software (AutoCAD) and utility software (SPANS, NJUNS, IkeGPS).
Potential to obtain PE license; EIT/FE exam preferred.
Ability to read engineering drawings/schematics and work in field conditions.

Responsibilities

Prepare distribution voltage construction packages for overhead and underground projects.
Assist with distribution line design from 2.4kV to 34kV.
Create and modify drawings, including as-built documents.
Support proposals, cost estimates, and project schedules.
Provide technical support to customers and assist business development.
Ensure QA/QC compliance and review others' work.
Perform field data collection and update software designs.
