Job summary

Orbital Engineering, Inc. seeks a Distribution Designer for our Utility Services team to support projects in the greater St. Louis, MO area.

This role offers a REMOTE WORK arrangement, but candidates must reside within about a one-hour radius of St. Louis to perform field data acquisition for client projects and to support design duties. The position requires fieldwork, data analysis, and coordinating with clients while adhering to NESC standards and company guidelines.

Qualifications

• 3+ years fieldwork or construction experience required.
• Associates degree with interest in fieldwork.
• Must be organized and able to keep data organized.
• Strong communication and status reporting.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and design software.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Able to pass drug and alcohol test.
• Able to work from home and an office setting.

Responsibilities

• Visually identify, inspect, and record equipment and different construction situations in the field, including rights-of-way.
• Apply NESC Standards, Client Standards, and other guidelines to complete engineering designs.
• Analyze field data and update software for design implementation.
• Utilize Client software packages to complete daily responsibilities in the design workflow.
• Communicate with clients to determine best engineering design solutions.
• Complete work on project schedule and within budget with status updates.
• Communicate with clients to determine cost-effective design solutions.
• Provide documentation to accounting to ensure projects are on budget.
• Transcribe notes and use measuring devices to record data.
