Job summary

Canonical Ltd. is seeking a software engineer passionate about open source, Linux, and scalable web services.

This remote role supports distributed teams across EMEA and beyond, designing APIs in Go or Python, and building secure, high-performance data streaming systems for the IoT SaaS platform. You will contribute to governance, data ownership, and compliance, with travel up to four times per year for internal events.

Qualifications

• Design and architect scalable backend services and REST APIs using Go or Python.
• Proactively address cybersecurity challenges in IoT environments including secure connectivity and data governance.
• Design decentralized data ownership models and high-throughput, low-latency systems for IoT data processing.

Responsibilities

• Design, architect and build high-performance APIs powering streaming data services.
• Develop governance, auditing, and management systems for telemetry platform.
• Collaborate with infrastructure to deliver cloud-based SaaS and containerized on-prem deployments.
• Lead design, implementation and optimization of new features from spec to production.
• Provide technical oversight, review code, and set engineering best practices.
• Engage with product teams and stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Travel up to 4 times per year for internal events and collaboration.
