Job summary

Canonical is seeking a software engineer passionate about open source, Linux, and web services at scale. You will work remotely with a globally distributed team, designing backend services and APIs in Go or Python to power streaming data for IoT and cloud products, while upholding security, governance, and operational excellence.

Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and security teams, mentor engineers, and drive innovation in telemetry and data services on Ubuntu.

Qualifications

• Design and architect scalable backend services and REST APIs using Go or Python.
• Deep cybersecurity expertise for IoT: secure connectivity, data streaming, governance.
• Experience with IAM, encryption, access control, GDPR/HIPAA compliance.
• Ability to design decentralized data ownership and governance.
• Design high-throughput, low-latency IoT data processing systems.
• Familiar with Ubuntu as a development/deployment platform.

Responsibilities

• Work remotely with a distributed team, driving technical excellence.
• Design, architect, and build high-performance APIs for streaming data.
• Develop governance, auditing, and management systems within telemetry platform.
• Partner with infrastructure to build scalable cloud SaaS and containerized on-prem deployments.
