Job summary

Canonical is a growing international software company delivering Ubuntu and open-source software worldwide. We seek an experienced software engineer passionate about open source, Linux, and scalable web services to contribute to telemetry and connectivity solutions.

You will architect backend services in Python and Go, work with MQTT, Kafka, and RabbitMQ, and help design data governance and auditing features.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, STEM or equivalent.
• Strong backend development experience in Python and/or Go.
• Experience with data streaming and telemetry systems.
• Familiarity with Ubuntu in development/deployment environments.
• Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for events.

Responsibilities

• Architect scalable service APIs for streaming data to internal teams using Python and Go.
• Develop governance, management and auditing components for telemetry platforms.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed team and support remote operations at scale.
• Build cloud-based SaaS and containerised on-prem solutions.
• Review code and designs, participate in production operations and incident response.
