Job summary

Mindset Care, Inc. is seeking an experienced Disability Hearing Attorney to support claimants as an independent contractor (1099). The role focuses on SSA disability hearings and related preparation and post-hearing tasks, not a full staff caseload.

The attorney will work remotely, review case files and evidence, prepare and conduct hearings, and deliver post-hearing summaries with limited follow-up, under a written contractor agreement.

Qualifications

• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Authorization to represent claimants before the Social Security Administration.
• Experience representing claimants at Social Security disability hearings.
• Strong command of SSA disability regulations, hearing procedures, medical evidence, and vocational issues.
• Ability to prepare efficiently, manage hearing deadlines, and advocate in a remote environment.
• Excellent judgment, professionalism, empathy, and client communication.

Responsibilities

• Review assigned electronic case files, exhibits, medical evidence, prior determinations, and hearing notices.
• Identify theory of the case, evidentiary gaps, vocational issues, and questions likely to arise before the ALJ.
• Conduct focused pre-hearing preparation with the claimant, including hearing expectations.
• Appear at scheduled Social Security disability hearings and provide professional representation.
• Develop claimant testimony and question vocational or medical experts when appropriate.
• Make clear legal and factual arguments based on the record and SSA rules.
• Provide a timely post-hearing summary and complete limited follow-up.
