Job summary

Crawford & Company is seeking a Team Manager for Disability Claims Management. This remote role leads a powerhouse team, overseeing investigations, managing claims, and ensuring timely resolutions aligned with client guidelines.

The ideal candidate has a strong claims background, supervisory experience, and deep knowledge of insurance practices. You will drive performance, coach staff, and collaborate with leadership to optimize outcomes across claims operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years progressive claim examiner experience.
• Previous supervisory experience desirable.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Analytical ability.
• Good mathematical aptitude.
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to supervise and develop staff.
• Thorough knowledge of services delivered by branch office.
• In-depth knowledge of insurance coverages, practices and negotiating skills.
• Familiarity with legal, medical and technical disciplines.
• Industry designations preferred (IIA, AIC, AEI and/or CPCU).
• State licensing where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Establish performance standards and conduct appraisals; administer corrective action per HR policies.
• Review, analyze, and assign losses to examiners; balance workloads.
• Coach personnel on investigations, reserving and settlement techniques; ensure compliance.
• Keep leadership informed of activities and problems within area of responsibility.
• Organize workflows in Risk Tech Claim System and other systems; train staff as needed.
